JIM's COMMENTS ON RUNNING IN THE MARATHON

Hello, my name is Jim. I am so excited to be able to have the opportunity to run the 2021 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Hopkinton Lions Club.

I was born in Minnesota and lived north of the Twin City's for most of my childhood before relocating to Roswell, New Mexico. My daughter was born there in 2000. I continued living in NM, before leaving to serve in the U.S. Navy from 2002 to 2011. My career as an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) included 2 deployments on the USS George Washington (CVN-73). From there I was stationed at Naval Air station Kingsville, Texas. Upon leaving the U.S. Navy I moved to MA to live and work at Martha's Vineyard Airport. After a great experience at MVY I continued on to the FAA. as an ATC, where I now work in Nashua, NH.

My wife and I married in 2012, and have adventurous three year old boy. As a family we enjoy outdoor activities and traveling together. Having been active my whole life playing sports, I now enjoy CrossFit at Resilience Fitness, in my spare dad time.

During my time in the U.S. Navy I ran three half marathons. I envisioned I would run a full marathon at some point in my life. Fast Forward eight years and I had began running more often again with my wife. She had set a goal to run thirty 5Ks before her 30th birthday that year. I got the chance to run about half of the races with her. From there I signed up and completed my own half marathon again in 2018. The following year I joined my friend in running the Marine Corps Marathon. This special Boston Marathon has me extra excited at an amazing opportunity to run again!
