Many people have items that don’t work quite right – tables with wobbly legs, scissors or garden tools that no longer cut very well, lamps with flaky switches, and so on.

Repair Fair is a community event where people bring disabled-but-repairable items, and local volunteers repair them. No charge.  Hopkinton's inaugural Fair, last September, was a success, and another is scheduled for Sat., Sept 30, 9:00-noon, at the Senior Center.  Residents of Hopkinton and neighboring communities are welcome; Upton volunteers will attend, to help and learn so as to be able to soon host their own Repair Fair.

What are types of repairs we hope to cover?  Here's a general idea:

  • Furniture repair, lamp re-wiring, appliance repair (e.g., can openers, hair dryers)
  • Sharpening garden tools, scissors, knives, etc
  • Simple sewing
  • Bicycle repair
